About Us
Indivisible is a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda. Indivisible Somerville is the local chapter group that was relaunched in spring 2025. Indivisible Somerville is a group of volunteers working to oppose the Trump agenda through electoral campaigns and direct actions.

Working Groups
Our group gets work done through working groups, each with two or three people who are serving as points of contact, facilitate and support the working group participants, and coordinate with the other working groups in monthly coordinating meetings. Reach out to the point people from any of the working groups below to learn more and get started. Our current working groups are:
CAMPAIGNS. Coordinates participation in electoral campaigns in other states, such as organizing virtual phone banks or doorknocking efforts. Current areas of focus include the redistricting ballot initiative in California and the Virginia governor's race.
COMMUNICATIONS. Writes email updates and newsletters, creates content for the website, and creates graphics and social media content to promote events and actions.
EVENTS. Organizes events and coordinates group participation in rallies, marches, and protests. Current areas of focus are holding protest peacekeeper trainings and Community Defense Trainings on how to support and show up for our Immigrant community members.
FINANCE. Manages our funds and fundraising, and serves as the treasurer point of contact for the chapter.
DATA/TECH. Manages the tech tools used by Indivisible Somerville (e.g., Mobilize, VAN, Every Action, etc.) and trains others on them.
VOLUNTEER CULTIVATION. Recruits new volunteers, meets with people interested in Indivisible Somerville to share about the structure of the organization and support them in finding a way to plug in.
Our Organizing Norms
- Assume good intentions unless proven otherwise
- Nobody knows everything and together, we know a lot
- We aim to meet everyone wherever they are, and support their growth and success
- Take the mission seriously, don't take ourselves that seriously
- Show appreciation and acknowledge the contributions of everyone
- People move into leadership by doing the work and fostering leadership in others
- Share the work so nobody burns out and everyone can also rest appropriately
- De-escalate all conflicts not with the enemy
